Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering? There are numerous volunteer opportunities that you can get involved in at Glenwood Retirement Village. We can work with you to find opportunities that suit your interests and availability. Some volunteer activities might include:

  • Assist with Bingo 

  • Play cards 

  • Manicures 

  • Weeding / Gardening 

  • Play Music/ Sing 

  • Visit with Residents 

  • Lead Bible Study 

  • Play Board Games 

  • Bring a pet to visit 

  • Read to Residents 

  • Help write letters/cards 

  • Help create/hang decorations for seasons/holidays 

  • Lead special interest, hobby, craft group 

  • Help with Coffee Hour 

  • Lead a baking class 

  • Ask a resident to teach you something 

  • Be a listening ear  

  • Light Housekeeping / Help organize resident rooms 

We continue to welcome and encourage new volunteers.

No experience needed.  We will provide training.

Welcome to our Volunteer Program! We are delighted that you are considering joining us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our residents. Our skilled nursing facility values the dedication and compassion of our volunteers. This provides an overview of the various roles and responsibilities you may undertake as a volunteer. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities 1. Leading Activities - Group Activities: Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, and games. Engage residents in interactive and enjoyable experiences that promote socialization and mental stimulation. - Educational Workshops: Organize and lead educational workshops or discussion groups on various topics of interest, such as current events, history, or literature. 2. One-on-One Interaction - Personal Visits: Spend quality time with residents, offering companionship and conversation. Engage in meaningful discussions, listen to their stories, and provide emotional support. - Assistance with Hobbies: Support residents in pursuing their hobbies or interests, whether it’s reading, gardening, or other personal projects. 3. Passing Out Snacks and Refreshments - Snack Distribution: Serve snacks and beverages to residents, ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are respected. Provide a friendly and engaging presence during snack time. - Meal Assistance: Help with meal service during dining hours, including setting up, serving food, and ensuring that residents are comfortable and satisfied. 5. Special Projects - Event Planning: Help organize and manage special events such as birthday parties, holiday celebrations, or themed gatherings, ensuring a festive and enjoyable atmosphere for all residents. - Facility Improvement: Participate in projects aimed at enhancing the environment, such as decorating common areas, creating sensory stimulation stations, or assembling care packages. General Guidelines - Respect and Confidentiality: Always respect the privacy and dignity of residents. Maintain confidentiality about personal information and medical details. - Training and Supervision: Attend any required training sessions and work under the guidance of facility staff. Follow all protocols and safety procedures. - Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with staff members and residents. Report any concerns or issues to the appropriate personnel. - Commitment: Adhere to your agreed-upon schedule and notify staff in advance if you are unable to attend a shift.
